Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES)

A fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) is a gold-standard diagnostic procedure that involves using a flexible endoscope to visually assess the swallowing process. During the procedure, a small camera is guided through the nose and into the throat, allowing healthcare professionals to observe the anatomy and function of the swallowing mechanism in real-time. This evaluation benefits patients by identifying swallowing disorders, guiding appropriate treatment plans, improving the safety and effectiveness of swallowing, and ultimately enhancing the patient's quality life.
